About Me

*Note to readers: The main page of this blog includes every published article I have written in the past two years. It is not a personal blog page, but my way of showcasing my reporting and writing skills. To see my blog, click here.

I am a recent graduate of Elon University in North Carolina with a BA in journalism.  As an emerging communications professional and writer, I have been able to sharpen my skills through leadership positions and several internships. During college, I served as the News Editor for Elon’s newspaper, The Pendulum (circulation: 4,500). I was responsible for finding stories pertinent to the campus and local community as well as cover any breaking news. I also served as Vice President of Communications for my sorority and was responsible for the chapters’ website development, external communications and advertising/PR.

During my time at Elon, I completed three internships. My first was at Clear Channel Communications Radio in Macon, Ga in which I utilized public relations practice to help organize the station’s tribute to Otis Redding at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. My second internship was completed at the Times-News in Burlington, N.C. in which I wrote several dozen feature articles in just four weeks. Finally, I completed an internship at Go Triad, the Greensboro News & Record’s arts and entertainment magazine which is published every Thursday. With this internship, I was given the opportunity to interview local artists of all genres as well as the multifaceted Jamie Foxx.  I am still learning more about up and coming journalism every day and look forward to what the future holds for it!

Currently, my passions still lie with the written word and storytelling. However, I currently work in digital marketing and advertising and love to see how the two industries of journalism and digital communications intersect. I am a social media junkie and believe that the more content we push out through multiple platforms, the more informed we can be.
